I was very excited to be playing in Brownsville,TX because Ive never been there.  One of the benefits of playing professional golf is seeing the world.  Well, Brownsville is not exactly like Chicago...its out in the middle of no where and real close to Mexico.  I love Mexico and even Mexico City is very stimulating.  But when I go to a gym in the U.S. I was anticipating English speaking people.  The Yoga class I did was completely spoken in Spanish.  I had no clue what pose we were doing.  The golf course in Brownsville was very nice and tricky.  I spent too much time figuring out where to place my ball and not enough time putting and chipping.  Tee to green fit my game real well except for the grass.  I could not figure out this grass. Big blades on the greens and funny grass around the green.  Since the greens were real small, I was doing a lot of chipping and even more putting since I had NO feel at all.

San Antonio is this week.  Oh it is soooo nice here.  Beautiful, smooth, fast greens, plush fairways, tree-lined holes, great practice facility.  They are  treating us like Queens here.  It feels like the LPGA tour.  Best part of this week...Jody is caddying for me.  Oh that makes everything so much easier.  He can figure out the golf course and I can use my energy solely for playing golf.  Love it.

Pro-am events are part of the tournament every week.  The pros play with the sponsors of the event in a scramble format (we all hit, take the best shot, and hit again).  Its usually fun for everyone and lately I seem to be on winning teams, which makes it even more fun.

Last week in Louisiana my team stretched the seams on FUN.  We all wore matching pink shirts logod with a crawfish holding a golf club and cherries - "CCC" Cherrybomb Crawfish Crew...

We each used a different pastel-colored golf ball (I used an orange ball and was sooo surprised how well this ball performed).  My team started our first hole with a "Cherry Bomb", cherries soaked in everclear liquor for days.  The more they drank, the better they played.  We were the LOUDEST group on the course and the best - 16 under par...so much fun.  I tried a cherry bomb on the last hole and got ridiculed for spitting it in the bushes.  The only all females group beat everybody.  We were very proud.

This week in Brownsville, TX my group tied for first place.  Except this time, I could have just sat in the cart and drank beer.   These young gentlemen, fresh out of college, could really golf their ball.  We should have wiped the field away... but unlike The Pink Ladies CCC, the more these boys drank the worse they played.   And since I did not have my orange lucky ball, we only shot 14 under par - still good enough to tie for first place.

Sunday was a terrific day for women's golf.  Televised on CBS was the Nabisco Dinah Shore and finally there were 3 americans in the top three.  Brittney Lincicome, Kristey Mcpherson, and Kristie Kerr. They battled it out until the final hole for one of the most exciting finishes in the history of golf. Hopefully this will bring more attention and sponsors to women's golf.

Also on this great day, I shot 69 to finish tied for 3rd in the Duramed Futures Tour event in Daytona Beach, FL.  This was my best finish in a few years.  It was really very exciting and Im soo happy that Jody, my boyfriend, was able to caddy for me.  He is usually watching on real time scoring and screaming at the computer "what is she doing out there!!!!!!!".  It is soo much easier to play this crazy game when you have someone you are confident in to give you the yardage, keep track of the wind, and not let me do anything stupid.  On the last hole Jody backed me off my shot to wait for the wind (it was swirling).  137 yards - I had 9 iron in my hand...I needed that bit of wind at the right time to get it to the hole...perfect 10 feet.

So, Im on my way...working with Doc Suttie is proving to be the right path.  In fact, Ive moved up 128 spots in the world rankings.

It seems like there is wind everywhere golfers are.  During the first tournament in Winter Haven it was soooooooo windy the second round.  This week in Daytona....more WIND.  I hear the LPGA is also having a windy time on the links.  My boyfriend, Jody caddies for Kim Hall.  They had a 3 club wind in Mexico City and 4 club wind in Phoenix.  The Nabisco Dinah Shore had some crazy winds causing the afternoon scores to escalate.  Last but not least, PGA tour cancelled play in Houston because of WIND.

What stinks about the wind is that it usually blows harder in the afternoon.  So sometimes there is a bit of luck involved in getting a good tee-time.  By the end of the year it  all evens out - good, bad, lucky, unlucky, windy, calm, rain, no rain, bad breaks, good breaks.  Patience!!!!
